Victoria-- The primate I saw and thought was interesting was the gorilla.
At the San Diego Zoo, there was only one species of gorilla that they showed. They put on display the western lowland gorillas (or Gorilla gorilla gorilla, as its scientific name).

The western lowland gorilla species often resides in the vast areas of rain forest: the western lowland gorilla's habitat in the Congo Basin. Most of these habitats have been destroyed or leased out to European and Asian logging companies, which causes for a threat to be realized.

It's IUCN report states that this type of gorilla is critically endangered!
Not only are there not many in zoos, there aren't many on the earth.
So the fact that there are loggers and poachers still out there taking homes and bodies off of the earth from the gorillas is frightening.

The organism that I chose for this, however, is still a pretty special animal. I personally enjoy how tough a gorilla can be (especially silver-back males) but still loving and gentle with family.
Gorillas are special creatures close to humans on the tree of life.
So be really nice to them!

Kiana Khaki :)
The Gorilla
Primates Common Name: Gorilla
Scientific Name: Gorilla Gorilla Gaueri
observations: Thes gorillas seemed lie very calm primates.  They ate alot of plants around them which probably means they are herbevours.  From what I had seen the gorilla was in the shade on the rock.  Sometimes it would move to another shade spot.  In the description I observed that it had said that they were mostly found in Africa.
IUCN-endangered
